Human Anatomy & Physiology – The Study of Life & Its Importance in Todays World

A basic explanation of what is anatomy and physiology is that physiology is the study of life, and life is in the form of the human anatomy. To answer the question, so what does it mean to me? It mean everything to you, because its “all about you”.

We all care about something, when it is about us. Ironically the most important thing to us which is our life, we leave in the hands of many others, mostly to those in the health care field. Of course we are all not doctors and nurses, so we have to entrust ourselves to those who are. To a point, and that’s the point I am making here. We have the responsibility to ourselves to know what we are made of, so we can make sound educated judgments, when it comes to health issues.

I am not just referring to basic knowledge, I am talking about a good understanding of anatomy and physiology which I again say ” its all about you”. If you can clear your way to thinking, that the body is about you personally and not a separate entity , then you have a better understanding of the importance in getting to know it.

Let me give you an example. When the economy is at its peak, people will go out and buy a vehicle that appeals to them. Perhaps they have heard about it through an advertisement, or a friend has one. They don’t base their decision on what they know personally, instead they base it on the word of others. Now a big factor here is money.

If the money situation is good then you can afford to be more daring. On the other hand, when money is tight people do a lot more investigating into purchases. For example they make it their business to find out how good the car is on gas, or how durable it is, or what are they getting exactly for the money. Now why does this happen? Simple, when money is tight, people have more to lose, so they are more careful, because they won’t have the means to replace it.

This is exactly how we are with our anatomy and physiology. When it seems to be working it great condition, we just go about our daily routine, not even giving a thought as to why its working so good, and what can we really do to keep it that way. Then the unfortunate day may come when you have just had your medical exam done, and the doctor says there is a problem.

For example, he may say your thyroid is malfunctioning. Perhaps you haven’t even heard the word thyroid. So now you don’t even know just how much trouble you may be in. Is it serious or what? All of a sudden now you will go on a crash course of learning a lot more of what the body is all about. At least where it pertains to your problems. You will most likely jump onto the internet, and type in the word “thyroid”. By the time you are finished you will be an expert on it.

I am not suggesting that you have to be a graduate student of the studies of anatomy and physiology. I am saying if you know your body well, then you are in a strong position to take preventative measures against illness. In addition you are well more informed from the start about potential problems you may be faced with. I mean by not knowing about the details of your body you could be creating a great deal of unnecessary stress for yourself.

Importance of Family Business Management

Ready to be at the wheel?

March 10 and 11, 2018 gave aspiring and budding entrepreneurs an opportunity to connect and collaborate. As the best and brightest minds came together and brainstormed on on how to fuel their business growth. It is the most important aspect in any of the business. The conference at IIT Mumbai brought together the best breed of entrepreneurs, innovators, venture capitalists, business model creators, consultants, policy-makers, academicians, and business practitioners to present and discuss innovation and success under the aegis of entrepreneurship for Small and Medium Businesses.

Over the past decade or so, in the dilemma between joining family owned businesses and higher studies. The scales have been tipping towards entrepreneurship and joining family owned businesses.

Let us explore the genesis and the reason why:

The Genesis

Today, family-owned businesses account for two-thirds of the world’s businesses and generate most of the world’s economic output, employment and wealth. In many regions of the world, family companies dominate the economy. “Family-controlled firms now make up 19% of the companies in the Fortune Global 500,” states The Economist. In India alone, 67% businesses are family run. McKinsey forecasts, that by 2025,there will be more than 15,000 companies worldwide with at least $1 billion in annual revenues, of which 37% will be emerging-market family firms.

The need

There is a need for Family Business Management Programs whether you are in a successful family business or you are into a business facing challenges and trying to bring about a changeover.

Successful family business:

Successful family businesses are successful because families see important changes in their industry. Simply put, successful families are entrepreneurial. Also, families succeed because they invest in productive activities, emphasise growing assets, and consume relatively little of their wealth. These families maintain a culture that encourages family members to create things of lasting value. It’s not surprising that these families encourage entrepreneurs. Furthermore, successful families remain reasonably united, keeping supportive members loyal to one another and to the family’s mission. Over generations, as families become more diverse, it is likely that only a few relatives per generation will directly work in the business.

Outside-the-business members might still support family philanthropic efforts or social activities, and sometimes that level of involvement is enough to maintain family unity. But investing in family entrepreneurs can also keep talented members contributing to the broader family’s wealth and mission. Investing in family entrepreneurs has to be done objectively based on the feasibility of their business plans, and also fairly within the family. Even if some entrepreneurial projects don’t succeed, these investments will help you spot talent to keep your business growing. And you are sending an important message: this family is committed to creating value.

Family businesses – facing challenges

While family businesses on average are stronger performers than other types of enterprise, they face distinct challenges that need to be managed. This constraint often kills the family business.

This creates the need for a course of study in Family Business Management that helps students understand how to capitalize on the strengths, navigate the challenges, and guard against the weaknesses of the companies and the families that own them.

How is Family Business Management program different from an MBA in Entrepreneurship?

Both Family Business Management and an MBA in Entrepreneurship prepare you for setting up and gearing your own business. However, there is a subtle difference. Unlike MBA in Entrepreneurship which prepares students for a setting up a business, the Family Business Management programme is targeted at family business owners looking to sustain, scale and grow their businesses. The content and pedagogy includes concepts of entrepreneurship, business sustainability, market trends which thereby lead to portfolio expansion and business growth. The program would help you evaluate the state of your family businesses and gear you towards accelerating your business to the next level.

Making the right choice:

In the world of family business, the entrepreneurs we celebrate are usually founders of companies. If you wish to be a founder of a company, start your new venture and learn how to navigate, go in for a pure MBA in Entrepreneurship. However, if you wish to join your family business and are supposed to take care of and grow the founder’s creation, you are not expected to be entrepreneurs but to understand and carry forward the vision of the founder,an MBA in Entrepreneurship would be more helpful.

Therefore, it is imperative that you make the right and informed choice…

Are these mutually exclusive?

If this makes you think that family business management programs are incompatible to entrepreneurship. The reason is because they are for students who are in family businesses that are usually tradition-bound, multi- generational. Let me tell you, we need to blur the lines here. The family businesses need to be more entrepreneurial. They need to pass on the entrepreneurial mindset and capabilities. To create new streams of wealth across many generations- not just pass the business on from one generation to the next. We need to come up with the concept of ‘family entrepreneurship’. When a leadership transition occurs in a family business, the new generation of leadership should be careful to maintain and build on the networks and knowledge of the former leaders, while expanding their own networks. This will insure that the business can continue to be entrepreneurial into the future.

And when they do, the distinction between Entrepreneurship and Family Business Management studies would begin to blur…

The Importance of Residual Marketing

These days it seems all anybody ever talks about is using the internet to promote their business. Obviously, I don’t have to tell you that using the internet to promote your business can be effective however let’s not forget that offline marketing can be just as effective if not more effective. An excellent method of offline advertising is the use of promotional products.

Promotional products are a cost effective and low cost way to get your message across, these items can help you get in front of your customers and more importantly stay there. In this article we will look at the importance of residual marketing.

First, I think it will be helpful to define what is meant by residual marketing. Residual marketing is a way to continually market from a previous effort. That means you receive benefits from your marketing long after the event (tradeshow, outing, conference etc) is over. This is similar to how an actor receives residual income each time his movie is played on TV or a song writer receives income each time her song is played on the radio.

This lingering effect is what gives residual marketing its power and why it is so important. Think about it, you only have to do the work one time however you reap the benefits of your work over and over again. One of the easiest ways to market residually is by using promotional merchandise.

In fact, one of the reasons why promotional products are so cost effective is because of their residual marketing benefits. Let’s say for instance that you send a letter to a prospective client introducing your services. This is the first step in marketing, getting in front of your prospect. The challenge becomes creating a strategy to stay there? What better way to do that than through the use of a fun and functional promotional product that will be used over and over again.

For example, instead of just sending a letter to a prospective client why not include a letter opener or luggage tag or keyboard calendar or jar opener?.

Now, each time they use your item they are gently reminded of your business. They feel good about you and your company, after all who doesn’t like to receive a free gift right? Especially one that is useful.

Now, when the prospective client has a need for your service, they will be more inclined to call you instead of your competition. You see, you only had to market to your prospect once but you received residual benefits because you included a promotional item with your letter. That relatively inexpensive add-in was working for you over and over again without any effort on your part, sort of like a silent salesperson.

The Importance of Office Stationery

There are several key aspects that remain standard to almost every office, no matter what type of business is conducted in that office. Most offices will have chairs, tables, computers, coffee makers, printers, copy machines, and telephones. They will also have keyboards, bathrooms, windows, and possibly a place to eat. These are all things easy to identify. Another set of objects that would be easily forgotten are sets of office stationary. Office stationary is key and integral to most all offices, but is likely to be forgotten because it is taken for granted.

Office stationary plays a huge role in office settings. Without office stationary, it would most likely be impossible to conduct business without any degree of frustration. This would be like a basketball player going to practice basketball with no basketball or shoes. Due to the huge role that office supplies and stationary take, someone in the office is usually responsible for the ordering of all office supplies and stationary. If someone in the office is not responsible, there is generally a company that contracts with the office to make sure it is completely stocked.

Office supplies and stationary include paper, letterhead, pens, pencils, markers, pre-printed envelopes, stamps, staplers, erasers, and all the other essentials that you would need. While the electronic age has really taken hold of today’s society, most business transactions still require office stationary to some degree. This office stationary is key, especially if it looks very professional and planned. No one wants to see an invoice coming from a company with a sloppy or outdated letterhead. People want crisp, clean, and non cluttered items on a piece of paper that are easily readable. This is why proper office stationary is so hugely important. It may seem like such a small piece of the puzzle, but it can have extreme effects on the business satisfaction of the clients.

In closing, if you do not have a good supply of office stationary, it would be wise to look into getting more. Along these same lines, it is important that you find the best value for money. Often-times stationary stores are a business with a sole purpose of making the most money they can from you. This is why it is often a great idea to find multiple quotes on what you are wanting. Also, the degree of flexibility and innovation that stationary companies have is key. You want a company that can give you a cutting edge with modern ideas and formats.

Importance of Business Communication

In this era, the business or trade world is the most money-spinning and creative platform for the businessmen. You may be a business entrepreneur, a startup venture or a big industry, you need to grow and create an impact on the customers through quality of your service or product.

It is mandatory to update your business acumen, the trends and the technology. To compete and excel in the market, it is essential to keep an eye on every aspect that may help you gain big profit and name.

Communication is one feature that is of foremost significant for growth of any business. The message you send to the masses or target audience should generate goodwill depending on the brilliance of communication sent across. Successful companies have a dedicated team to take care of Public Relations and Communication.

Business Mails have become one of the major forms of business communication. One must carefully draft emails and put the message in an interesting and innovative way to attract the attention of readers towards the idea or concept being sold.

A well composed mail itself should be sufficient for any proposal or business idea. It should be so alluring that a proposal can be agreed and sealed, inception of new alliances could take place, and partnerships or projects could be renewed.

Hence, business email is immense important in today’s cut throat competition. The business email is the first impression; it creates the business image of a company. It enhances the company’s position, its standards and objectives. It develops the confidence in reader’s mind about the service or industry, the competence and business acumen of its team members.

Thus, it becomes most challenging to draft an effective email. While drafting a business email one must ensure a flawless documentation and presentation:

· Format: The design or the template of email should be contemporary. Always follow the structure of formal letter with every rule or parameter taken into consideration. Don’t forget to put salutation, and subject of mail in the opening.

· Email Receivers: Keep the receiver email in “To” and others in “BCC”, “CC” to your seniors or team members can also be sent.

· Brevity: Remember to keep it short. The reader would ignore long and tedious mails. You have to value a busy schedule of the reader.

· Wording: Use formal, polite, yet attractive and compelling vocabulary. A second person addressing gives a personal touch and it would impress the reader.

· Accuracy: Ensure that the mail has crisp and clear words, and it should be properly addressed. Go for spell check to guarantee that there are no spelling errors. Also, ensure there should be no grammar mistakes. The content should be precise and unblemished.

· Signature: The signatures should be given at the end in a defined format:

1. Thanks/ Regards,

2. Yours faithfully/ Sincerely, Truly,

3. Name of sender,

4. Designation of sender,

5. Contact information with the mobile number and email,

6. Company website and logo,

7. Link to social media.

The Importance of An Application Letter

A well organize application letter will trigger for you to be hired in the job you are applying. The application letter most of the time is also called as cover letter, serving as the front page of your resume. This letter, since it is being passed to the HR (Human Resource Department) or Personnel Officer of a company it is also one of the types of business letter.

We write an application letter because we wanted to know that the person the company searching for the job is the best and perfect for the position. Therefore, it is inevitable to write an application letter in applying for a job. But what is really the importance of an application letter?

In writing an application letter, it should be done with an extra-ordinary attention because this letter is not an ordinary one. It looks like you are selling yourself to the company because they will be paying you amount if you will get hired. This is why you should take considerable time in formulating your application letter for you to be bought by the buyer. That your intellectual know how is almost or exactly fitted on the vacant or available position.

The same with the application letter, since you are selling your self to the company and the application letter serves as the advertisement and reliable information about yourself, it should be convincing for the HR or the Personnel officer to go over your resume for further evaluation.

In addition, since this is a letter, you should be careful on your sentence structure. The simple subject and verb agreement should be followed accordingly not to mention other grammatical sentences boosting your knowledge and skills you are offering. The organization and structure should also be given attention.

Though every part of this letter is important, the employer is eying on the part where you are stating some of your experiences relevant to the company’s needs in the operation of their businesses. You should be careful in structuring this part because in here lies if they will go over your resume for further evaluation.

Before you create your own application letter, have sometime to ask some of your friends or you can surf over the internet. In here lies more information on how to make an application that could stimulate your reader and be hired for the desired position you are applying.

The Importance of the Legal Aspects of Business Correspondence

The writing of business letters calls for two classes of skills. First, we need to know how to lay out a business letter in acceptance form, and be thoroughly familiar with it, so that in practically every letter we write we use the standard layout. There will always be the odd letter that for some reason is non-standard, but in general we should write naturally in the well-tried, standard way, so that our correspondents will feet at ease with the letter when it arrives. The other skill is the ability to write in good English, with the letter’s subject matter falling into clear paragraphs, each of which is written in lucid sentences. The ability to write in sentences, both simple sentences and more complex sentences, ensures that each part of the letter expresses a complete thought, or a group o related thoughts. This enables our correspondent to follow the points we are making, in logical steps, and to arrive at the end of the letter with a clear understanding of our point of view on the matter, or matters, that we have raised.

These two aspects require a great deal of explanation, and we shall learn the skills best if we understand the reasons behind the various practices that have been adopted over the years. We will therefore start by considering the legal aspects of business correspondence.

The legal aspects of business correspondence

Almost all business activity is contractual in nature. This means that the two people engaged in any particular transaction are undertaking certain obligations to one another and at the same time acquiring certain rights. Thus the furniture manufacturer who agrees to supply some of his/her products to a wholesaler is entering into a transaction by which he/she accepts an obligation to supply the goods specified in return for a right to receive a monetary payment called ‘the price’. Where a service is to be supplied, the arrangement is just the same. For example, a security company agrees to protect premises with its security guards and specialist devices, in return for an agreed contractual fee.

Should any dispute arise, it can be settled by going to court, with the aggrieved party suing the other party. To sue someone is to summon them to court, to show why you should not have the justice you are seeking. The judge will look at correspondence that has passed between you (including any document such as contracts, invoices, memos, etc.) and will pronounce judgment in the matter. It is the legal nature of correspondence that requires setting out the correspondence in a standard form of layout. The chief points are:

1) The names and addresses of both parties to the contract must be stated on all correspondence.

2) All correspondence must be clearly dated.

3) To assist in tracing correspondence, it is usual to give references at the top of the letter.

4) To make the subject matter of the letter clear, it is usual to give a subject heading at the start of the letter.

5) To start the letter itself, we need some sort of greeting. This is called the salutation, and may be a general greeting, such as Dear Sir.

6) We then have a number of paragraphs that deal with the matter in hand.

7) Finally, we need a concluding section. This is called ‘the complimentary close’ or ‘subscription’.

8) If copies are being sent to other departments, there may be a list of their names, headed CC (copies circulated).

If all these details are included, the court will have no difficulty understanding what the parties have done. Clearly we do not expect to finish up in court when we start to deal with a supplier or customer, but in case we do, the formal layout described will serve as evidence.

Need and Importance of Business Ethics

Business ethics seek to proscribe behavior that businesses, firm managers, and workers should not engage in. Ethics is a source of guidance beyond enforceable law. It is clear and uncontroversial that firms and their workers should not engage in unlawful acts, such as selling harmful or defective products, and ignorance of the law cannot be used as a justification for unlawful actions. Business and management ethics goes beyond the law lo provide guidelines as to what is acceptable behavior in business transactions. Being based on values, however, it is often not clear what ethical behavior is and what it is not, since different people may have different values.

For example, should you report to your supervisor an affair between two of your co-workers? Some people would say yes, but others would think that it is none of their business. What about selling a product abroad that has been found to be harmful to health and is not allowed lo be sold in the United States? Or buying foreign products made with child labor? Or polluting abroad in a way that is not allowed at home? These issues are important to the firm because, independent of its ethical stand, they could seriously affect its bottom line if, for example, they lead angry consumers to boycott the firm.

Today, most large companies have established codes of ethical behavior for the firm’s personnel and have created “ethics officers” or guardians of corporate rectitude with the mission of keeping employees conduct more upright than the law requires. A company with such a code of behavior and an ethics officer is more likely to hear of unethical behavior in the firm before it becomes a legal problem or before it leads to consumer reaction, both of which can harm the image and profitability of the firm. There have been many such cases, such as when it became known that Nestle (the Swiss multinational and largest food company in the world) pushed infant formula in many poor countries when the mother’s milk would have been healthier for the infant, or when Nike was exposed for paying poverty wages in many developing countries to workers making its high-priced sneakers.

An important additional incentive for many firms establishing codes of conduct for their employees and creating ethics officers was the establishment of sentencing guidelines by the courts in 1991 that reduced fines for white-collar crimes committed by employees of companies that had established comprehensive ethics programs. Such ethics programs attempt to indicate as clearly as possible behavior that the firm regards as unethical and that employees are asked to avoid. These include using the company’s telephone for personal use, taking office supplies home, lying about being sick for missing work, reporting illegal behavior by other employees, giving or accepting gifts, and many others.

Since it is practically impossible to list all types of hypothetical behavior that a company would regard as unethical and come up with a universally accepted code of conduct, after listing many such examples, some companies provide the broad guideline of “don’t do it if it doesn’t feel right or if you would be embarrassed reading about it in the local newspaper or hearing about it on the local evening news.” Today, professions such as medicine, law, and accounting have professional codes of ethics. Despite this, a number of spectacular financial frauds were exposed.

Better would be to change the structure or architecture of the corporation so as to foster ethical behavior. This might include rewarding the company’s CEO more with stock options that tie rewards to the company’s long-run profitability than with salary ties to current profits; requiring founders of the company to retain a large position in the stock of the company to ensure that their interests are consistent with those of new investors; rewarding production workers for both quality and quantity and not just for quantity; providing bonuses for the sales force for having satisfied customers and not just for maximizing-sales; and rewarding rather than punishing employees exposing illegal behavior at the firm.

Many consumer groups would like corporations to go further and have a social conscience and use some of their resources to redress social ills, for example, by aiding the poor, promoting education, funding crime-prevention programs, reducing general environmental pollution, financing public projects, and so on. Some of these actions can directly benefit the bottom line of the firm; by helping local schools, for example, the firm gets better trained worker than otherwise (thus saving on its training expenses), or it can benefit the firm indirectly by establishing a reputation for the firm as a “good citizen” (thus attracting more customers and leading to more sales).

Importance of Free Domain Names

Internet marketing is approximately 25 years old. Since 1989, different marketing techniques have been used to maximize the business revenue through the internet. In this article, I am going to discuss some link-building techniques for your website. The Google algorithm was based on the calculation of links pointed to a website. Considering this, I have listed the 5 most important components of any digital business:

1. A good domain name

2. Exceptional copywriting

3. Attractive designs

4. SEO oriented sitemap

5. Quality outbound & inbound links

There are other elements as well, but, I have tried to keep the list short. Quality links are an important tool to enhance your online presence. Well, there are many link-building tools available, a free domain name is the oldest & most reliable way to attract quality links. Here are some reasons:

Free domain names have thousands of links pointing to the root domain.

You can easily create a free domain with minimum designing effort.

Free domain names have a high page rank and Alexa rank i.e. WordPress.com has an Alexa rank of 18.

It is an old marketing technique to use free domain names for link-building purposes. Lets suppose you have a website named as “http://www.lifestyle.com” and you want to create quality backlinks for this website. You can easily create a free WordPress blog for this website. It should be “lifestyle.WordPress.com. This website will give you a quick access to thousands of backlinks. You can also get a few hundred visitors from this free website. Also, this website is very niche specific and provides a very relevant backlink to your site.

So, you can create 50 free domain names to create 50 relevant backlinks to your website. Internet marketers have used this idea and still now, It is a very good trend to do so. You will need to have an exceptional fast copy writing service to write all the content. I know it is hard to create 50 websites but, it is a good idea if you are creating a celebrity brand. Building blogs on the root domain is also a good idea to get good links. Some website allow their visitors to create blogs on their website without paying a penny. It helps in attracting fresh content, generating sales, and attaining good page rank.

Please do not try the same platform to create all of those 50 websites. You can create different websites on different blogging platforms. Here are few websites that I recommend:

Blogger

WordPress

Weebly

Tumblr

Livejournal
